 HCL Technologies

HCL Technologies is one of India's top IT companies.  HCL serves Fortune 500 companies that develop software applications and design hardware. Much of their work is done through collaborative efforts relying on virtual teams and Indian engineers traveling to work onsite at their client's location. HCL found that successful project implementation was not only dependent upon highly qualified engineers but also cross-cultural competency.  Cultural know-how and communication skills are just as important for successful project implementation as excellence in programming.  Shanti Consulting works with HCL to develop and facilitate interactive workshops in cultural understanding and accent neutralization increasing cultural competency levels of HCL employees.

"The program content was comprehensive and delivered exceptionally well. David's keen understanding of India and Indians ensures that participants are able to connect with their American counterparts, not just learn about them and their way of life. It is rare to come across trainers who can make barriers between cultures disappear. David is one of them."

 Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program

Shanti has been working with the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program for the past four years preparing scholars to transition into American and UK educational systems. Ford International Fellowship Scholars are carefully selected from less developed segments of society and chosen for their leadership potential to impact their communities. Shanti has developed a training program encompassing character development, educational adjustment, cultural competencies, and cultural transition.

"The biggest fear is that of the unknown. I keep asking myself, 'Will I be able to cope with new people in a new environment?' The workshop dealt with a lot of my apprehensions. Thanks a lot!"

United States Educational Foundation in India

The United States Educational Foundation’s PLUS Program selects college students from underserved regions and social groups who demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to making a difference in India. Shanti Consulting was asked to prepare students for adjustment to life in the United States and worked with The USEFI PLUS Program coordinator to prepare a program anticipating the needs of students with input based upon feedback from previous Plus Program student evaluations. The orientation enabled students to understand foundational cultural issues and display cultural sensitivity.

"Thank you for your excellent presentation and interactive session.  Your PowerPoint on 'U.S. Cultural Adjustments' is an excellent resource. I also appreciate your talking candidly to the students."
